Crafting a World-Class Healthcare Experience at United Family Healthcare, Guangzhou

We embarked on an ambitious project to revolutionize the healthcare landscape with United Family Healthcare UFH in Guangzhou, pioneering comprehensive medical services aligned with U.S. standards across southern China. Our goal was not only to bring high-quality care closer to residents of Guangzhou and surrounding areas but also to set a new benchmark for healthcare integration by merging Eastern and Western medical practices.

Our vision centered around creating a serene healing environment that prioritizes comfort, wellness, and seamless mobility for patients. Spanning over 699,400 square feet with room for 200 beds, the UFH Guangzhou Hospital was meticulously designed to incorporate state-of-the-art medical planning concepts from various regions.

The transformation of this facility began with a deep dive into understanding UFH’s values and needs through collaboration with its management team in Beijing and Shangh. This extensive partnership ld the groundwork for our design strategy that revolves around four core principles:

1. The Curve - Embracing smooth, organic for create a soothing sensory experience and enhance safety by reducing accidents.

2. Nature - Incorporating abundant natural light and eco-frily materials to connect patients with the outdoors and foster a sense of tranquility.

3. Mood - Tloring colors, shapes, and textures to evoke emotions that promote healing and comfort within every space.

4. Scale - Ensuring architectural elements are sized for interaction, from ceiling heights to floor finishes that facilitate ease of movement.

Considering the emotional journey patients undergo in a healthcare setting, we focused on creating spaces that exude calmness and welcome. The outpatient hall boasts a three-story stone wall adorned with Chinese calligraphy that reads Caring for neighbors' peace and countless families' health, encapsulating UFH's spirit of compassion alongside modern medical expertise.

To enhance the patient experience further:

• We designed new corridors, wting areas, and public spaces to maximize natural light and create serene atmospheres.

• Residential-quality finishes, warm lighting, and soothing textures were integrated throughout the hospital for an inviting ambiance akin to a homey hotel setting.

The UFH Guangzhou Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including Chinese traditional medicine alongside Western specialties such as Family Medicine, Integrated Birthing Suites, Postpartum Rehabilitation, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This integration is innovative in its approach, combining both Eastern wisdom and Western science for holistic care.

With meticulous planning tlored to specific medical and patient needs across each department, the hospital presents itself with distinct identities united by a cohesive design language that runs through all spaces. Each area comes equipped with a multifunctional space designed for casual gatherings, meetings, and social events, ensuring patients feel cared for in every aspect of their journey.

Guided by a -centered approach, we med to elevate the experience of care delivery by mirroring the comfort found in hospitality services - from special bedside interfaces that are covered with protective panels to calming wall designs and mirrors. VIP wards are meticulously planned for privacy during medical procedures while mntning welcoming spaces for patients to enjoy visitors' company.

In summary, our collaboration with UFH resulted in a landmark healthcare facility that not only embodies the highest standards of American medicine but also bridges cultural gaps by harmoniously integrating Chinese practices. The completion of this project, following the award-winning Shangh UFH Pudong Hospital designed under JCI accreditation guidelines, marks a new era in medical care provision, setting a global standard for patient-centered healthcare environments.
