Emotional well-being is directly influenced by social media use. The constant comparison between reality and digital personas can lead to feelings of inadequacy or superiority. A study suggests that users who compare themselves frequently with others on social platforms experience heightened levels of self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, and loneliness Smith Johnson, 2017. This phenomenon is often referred to as 'social comparison,' where individuals gauge their lives agnst the seemingly perfect lives portrayed online.

Cyberbullying and online harassment are prevalent problems, affecting both children and adults alike.
