Welcome to the Seattle Children’s Innovative Technologies Lab SCITL, led by Dr. Frederick Shic. We are committed to using and advancing everyday technologies that can improve the lives of children with autism spectrum disorder, other developmental disabilities, and beyond. Our work encompasses both theoretical research and practical applications med at enhancing diagnostic precision, developing novel therapies, and deepening our understanding across an individual's lifespan.
SCITL is dedicated to bringing state-of-the-art transformative technologies into everyday use for various purposes. This includes cutting-edge biomarker development through eye tracking and near-infrared spectroscopy techniques to monitor the impact of treatments, decipher developmental and behavioral diversity, and predict clinical outcomes in real-time and retrospectively.
We are also pioneering innovative technology like mobile applications, virtual reality systems, robots, smart toys, and video games to revolutionize sensing capabilities and therapeutic interventions. Our focus is on supporting equitable research that actively engages a diverse group of participants and staff.
