Children's Hospital Los Angeles Adolescent Young Adult Medicine Program: Comprehensive Care for Teens and Young Adults

The Children's Hospital Los Angeles Teenage and Young Adult Health Center offers specialized care designed to meet the unique health needs of adolescents aged 12-21. This comprehensive program, one of the largest in the nation dedicated exclusively to children and young adults, provides a full spectrum of advanced medical services with an emphasis on youth-frily practices.

Our team comprises board-certified pediatricians and internists specializing in adolescent medicine who address both acute and chronic health issues. They also offer guidance on risk prevention and promote optimal health for this developmental stage. The program's multidisciplinary staff includes:

• Board-certified pediatricians

• Nurse Practitioners with a focus on adolescents

• Psychologists dedicated to adolescent mental health

• Social workers experienced in working with young people facing various challenges

• Psychiatrists who understand the specific needs of adolescents and young adults

• Nurses with expertise in adolescent healthcare practices

• Substance abuse specialists focusing on youth

The program's services encompass:

1. Consultation Treatment: Routine medical evaluations, chronic disease management including those that could affect reproductive health.

2. Specialized Services:

   • Abdominal pn assessment

   • Acne care and treatment plans

   • Fatigue evaluation

   • Headache management strategies

   • HIV prevention and support services for positive youth

   • Menstrual disorders diagnosis gynecological issues

   • Puberty guidance, growth concerns and education

   • Reproductive health and contraceptive options including Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives LARCs

   • Transger care and ger-affirmative services

Comprehensive mental health support includes individual, family, and group counseling sessions provided by our team of psychologists. Psychiatrists offer assessment and ongoing psychiatric care as needed for qualifying patients.
