Safe Place: The Center for Child Protection and Health is a comprehensive program designed to address child abuse, neglect, and placement into out-of-home care in the region. Our mission focuses on offering evidence-based, trauma-informed care that encompasses both physical and emotional support to children suspected of experiencing maltreatment. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists, is committed to delivering the highest level of care for children and their families.

Through our research initiatives, Safe Place has a long-standing legacy of advancing knowledge on child maltreatment prevention, its consequences, and health policies related to child protection. Our resources are designed to provide guidance on child abuse prevention, trauma recovery, healthcare needs for maltreated children, and the impact of child protection services.

We believe in empowering communities through advocacy efforts that influence local and state government decisions impacting maltreated children and their families. To ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children, we participate in court reviews and testify before legal stakeholders such as child welfare agencies, law enforcement, and the judicial system. We also provide medical expertise for community partners involved in decision-making processes concerning abused children.
